So we survived and had a fabulous time at our two pop up shops over the past wintery Melbourne weekend! Did you throw on your scarf and gloves to come visit NoteMaker at Design Made Trade or The Melbourne Design Market? If you couldn't make it down here is our photo recap of a busy weekend for the NoteMaker team.
Design Made Trade was held in the world heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building in the scenic Carlton Gardens; which proved to be a wonderful location to showcase the many wonderful designers and stores partaking in this State of Design event. State of Design has become a Melbourne essential event on the winter calendar. If you haven't checked out some of the great events you still have time as it runs until 31 July, this Sunday.
We decided to showcase some of our most desirable and designer appealing brands at Design Made Trade - Rhodia, Delfonics, Clairefontaine Goldline, Koh-i-Noor, DodoCase and Moleskine.
Not in Melbourne for Design Made Trade? Fear not designer stationery fans we have put together our Essentials Collection - meanwhile.....
Just a few kilometers away at the architectural icon that is Federation Square, hundreds of eager and chilled to the bone Melbournians braved the journey down the carpark to visit the Melbourne Design Market. Held bi-annually the Design Market is another event essential for design aficionados.
For our pop up sale here we decided to go for a fun carnival feeling ready for the excited patrons with bunting in bright colours to lighten up an otherwise rainy day. Or most popular sellers ended up running out the door of customers hands - MT Tape, O-Check Design Graphics, Cooterboy, Serrote and Yellow Owl Workshop.
Didn't make it down to the Design Market - don't worry you can still catch a bargain over at our SALE as well as go into the draw to win this fab stationery hamper. Winner announced 31 July 2011.

It is one of the great ambiguities in the stationery world: just what is a pocket size notebook? It creates a lot of confusion too. Just recently we had somebody asking for a pocket size Moleskine notebook. So I confirmed; "That's 9 x 14cm, right?" And after a quick measurement, the reply; "No, mine here is about 13 x 21cm".
Now to me, that's a seriously big pocket but there you go. It's best we not even think about the confusion caused by a 'Pocket size' Filofax - but the point is that it is one of the most popular stationery items - a pocket notebook - but there is such variation that the term is almost meaningless!
Perhaps to clear the air, perhaps just because they have a really nice vintage design, perhaps just for the love of stationery, Pocket Dept. is here to fit a notebook to every pocket!
Designed and made in Brooklyn, New York, USA, Pocket Dept. make thin, tough notebooks with really nice plain pages which are great for your pocket! Sorry, not just your pocket, but your Shirt Pocket, your Back Pocket, your Back Pack Pocket, your Messenger Bag Pocket, specifically.
Check them out and make your local stationer's life a little more simple!

It's generally known as the World's Most Reliable Fountain Pen and is the everyday choice of fountain pen users the world over! We are definitely card carrying Safari fans - you can read our Safari Fountain Pen review here - which is why we're so excited about this special!
Here's the deal. You get a Lamy Safari Fountain Pen (any colour and any nib size you like) and a pack of T10 Ink Cartridges and a pocket size Rhodia Pad for only $39! (That's normally $61 worth of writing excellence for you bean counters out there)
As you would probably guess, it is only for a limited time so be quick! If there's a colour you've been wanting to add to your collection (the new aquamarine won't be around forever you know...) or you're just sick of scratching boring pale blue onto your paper then this is a great time to settle the score!
