Rifle Paper Co kind of blur some lines for me. There's always been an easy distinction between what I call a 'Fine Paper' card, like a correspondence card, and a greeting card. There are a lot (and I mean a lot!) of really nice, cute, sweet handmade cards available.
In fact, come to think of it, the Greeting card is really the main vehicle for paper loving makers of things to express themselves. There are comparatively few book binders or boutique notebook makers out there, but visit any stationery fair and you can find a plethora of really lovingly made greeting cards.
Undoubtedly this is partly because a card is much easier to make than a notebook, right? Of course! But there is something else here I think. Who doesn't like to send a card? I mean it's got everything that Hollywood's been selling for decades now. There's drama, there's suspense, there's a love story, there can be redemption and even dancing in your living room! The whole idea is so darn romantic!
I think it has to do with proxy. You have this heartfelt, funny, silly or whatever message to send but you can't do it directly...you have to choose a vehicle for it, cross your fingers, kiss the envelope for luck and trust it will be well received. So choose a good vehicle!
And if you're into a greeting card, or even a fine paper card to return to the opening point, then Rifle Paper Co is your delegate of distinction! And much more besides! Brand new, we have all kinds of paper goods, as lovingly made and beautifully designed as any Rifle card.
