New release stationery: Behance Action Journal

Okay so i really like the Behance Action Method range. Words like 'method' and 'system' have that negative infomercial connotation but this stuff really is a little bit different. The spiral bound Action books are great value and made from really high quality materials.

So Behance, based in the US, have made an update to their range - the Action Journal. It's a 'Moleskine' style notebook - meaning that it has an elastic strap and expanding rear pocket.

Best of all, it's got great environmental credentials. In their own words:

The Action Journal features a unique suede-to-the-touch hard cover, created using 100% sustainable materials. The pages are made of 60lb New Leaf paper with a subtle texture (100% recycled), printed full bleed, and perforated for maximum flexibility. New Leaf Paper was founded to inspire a fundamental shift towards sustainability in the paper industry. By choosing this notebook, you are making a difference.

Hopefully the guys at NoteMaker (Australia's Behance stockists) get this one in soon - fingers crossed.

Field Notes Icons: Behance Action Method

We love the Behance Action Method approach to creativity and productivity. For those who are unfamiliar with this cutting edge technique for getting things done, the Action Method organises all of your projects into their basic elements, crystallising the steps needed to take action and make things happen.

There are online and even iPhone applications of the Action Method but we have to admit that our favourite is the offline, paper based range of products which are perfect for meetings and also for design and brainstorming.

The Action Method delivers clarity to ideas as it was originally developed in specific response to the needs of creative industry, where too many ideas get lost to concept and forgotten about when it comes time to make things happen.

You can follow this link to read more about the Action Method and why the world's brightest (like speakers at the world changing TED conference) can't get enough of it and if your meetings need to be sharpened just a little further, the range of offline solutions are stocked exclusively in Australia at NoteMaker.

There's also the Behance store for all of the online applications, for people who need Action on the run.

We recommend the Behance Action Book to harness the group's energy and the Behance Dot Grid Book for those quiet times of conceptualisation and contemplation. And if your business is overflowing with creative enrgy, you can even plaster the walls with it (well, almost...) as we mentioned in this post here.

If you've found other ways of getting the most out of your meetings and creativity, let us know! Even with Behance on our side, we can all use an extra hand!

Trends in the Field: Mind Mapping with Rhodia

Well, we've heard that the Behance Idea Paint will soon be available in Australia and we're getting anxious to try it out! And whilst patience is a virtue, the time to brainstorm has come and we need a fix so thanks to Caroline for dropping us a suggestion to try some mind mapping, while we wait.

Apparently, Mind mapping is used to generate new ideas, structure thoughts and streamline creativity around a central theme or key word. It thrives on a plethora of new ideas, cross-concept associations, metaphorical thinking and outside-of-the-box collaboration ending with a wealth of information, intuitively organised.

Thinking which is natural and organic. (and can even help save the world!)

So, for your next brainstorming session, grab some paper, pens and a team with their thinking caps on and get mapping!

We can't wait to try this out on our Rhodia #38 Pad from NoteMaker for some upcoming blog ideas and would love to see some Field Notes readers' mind maps - so drop us a comment or email us your own.

Townmouse

Field Notes loves Townmouse: it is an insiders look at the studio of an online children’s wear label.
And as lovers of all things paper we were very excited to see they use Behance’s Dot Grid Book to help sketch their latest additions to their range of children’s clothing!
